What is CrossFit?

CrossFit 573 is a gym located in Jackson, MO. We are led by CrossFit Level 1 Trainers Blake & April Guilliams.

Our fitness methodology is inclusive--it doesn't mean you have to already be in shape, an athlete or training. Our workouts are scalable--we modify based on each persons ability.

CrossFit's strength and conditioning program is described as “constantly varied, functional movement, performed at high intensity," with the stated goal of improving fitness and therefore general physical preparedness, which is defined as "work capacity across broad time and modal domains." Workouts are typically short--20 minutes or less--and intense, demanding all-out physical exertion. We combine movements such as sprinting, rowing, jumping rope, climbing rope, weightlifting, and carrying objects; we use barbells, dumbbells, gymnastics rings, pull-up bars, kettlebells, and many bodyweight exercises. These elements are mixed in numerous combinations to form prescribed "Workouts of the Day" or "WODs". Classes at our gym typically include a warm-up, a skill development segment, the high-intensity WOD, and a period of individual or group stretching. Performance on each WOD is often scored and/or ranked in order to transform workouts into sport and to track individual progress.

CrossFit is functional, intense, and most of all, FUN!
